Questions…
broken vacuum cleaner?
I just bought a brand new vacuum today!!! It is much more powerful than my old one, so I did not anticipate it sucking up my bedroom sheets (that has never been a problem before). It still runs, but has lost suction and the brush is not spinning. I called the 800 number and there was no option to speak with someone. Do I have to take my brand new cleaner to the shop, or is this something I can take care of myself?

You are going to have to get the sheet out of there for it to run properly. If you can’t figure it out you will have to take it to a repair shop. Possibility you broke the belt on the brush also.

It sounds like the belt broke or came off. Usually there is only about 4 phillips head screws holding the cover on. They are pretty easy to take apart and put the belt back on. However sometimes getting the cover back the proper way can take a little more work. It really is a fairly easy fix. Good luck!
take it back the sooner the better
First off, is this an upright or a cannister w/ power head??? And secondly, how the H__ LL did you manage to vacuum up your bedsheet??/ Did it just jump out in the way or were you vacuuming your bed and it just got sucked up?? If you can’t just pull the thing out of the brush area and get it to run, then you’ll have to take it to a shop. They will most likely charge you to repair it as this is not a workmanship and materials problem, it’s an operator problem.
I work in a vac repair/sales shop… Sounds like a broken belt. this is common when you snag a sheet, edge of a rug, or a sock from under the bed. The suction will dramatically be reduced when the brush roll is not moving. Flip over unit, remove screws, remove brush roll, remove broken belt. CLEAN the area/brush roll. Put on belt, put on cover. You might want to turn the vac on beore you put belt/brush roll in to test the suction. If there is no suction, then you have a clog in the hose. It is recommended that you change belts every 3-4 months since they will stretch and then the brush roll will slow down, even stop on carpets. Hope this helps!
